Weiren Theo for Nuala Goodman: when Art meet Fashion

Did it ever happen to you after your university studies to work with your professor?

The successful partnership between Indonesian fashion designer Weiren Theo and Irish artist Nuala Goodman is a prime example of this.

At the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, where he studies fashion design and she instructs textile classes, Weiren is a past pupil of Nuala's. The "Wild Tapestries" that Nuala Goodman creates by fusing priceless and used fabrics are already well-known. Goodman goes back to her painting beginnings by making wall tapestries, although this time material is used in place of paint.

Several shredded, untamed tapestries have been turned into jackets in preparation for the upcoming "(Re)-Discoveries" show in Amsterdam. Weiren recommended making the soft hood detachable after they chose to add one together. This was done in collaboration with fashion designer Weiren Theo who adapted his classic coat design to Nuala’s slashed textiles. Together they decided to add a soft hood to the coat, and Weiren suggested making it removable. ..

A creative conversation took place, resulting in these Wild Tapestry Coats ,wearable art pieces which can also be hung on a wall as paintings.

The same is true of ‘The Artist’s Palette’ shoulder bags designed by Weiren which refer to a painter’s palette in both form and color.

Weiren and Nuala collaborate in a way that encourages innovation. A successful and pleasurable teamwork is the result, which is a priceless thing
